The Ministers Alliance of Rhode Island is an organization that has played a significant role in the spiritual, social, and political life of the State's African American community. The Ministers Alliance was formed in 1982 in an effort to bring together clergy representing the Black, Brown and Indigenous people of communities of faith in the State. The Alliance was incorporated in 1989 and has continued the mission of being the voice of the voiceless on issues involving equality, education and justice. The Alliance was established by a group of Black pastors and religious leaders who sought to create a unified body to address the spiritual needs of their congregations and advocate for civil rights and social justice.
Throughout its history, the Ministers Alliance of Rhode Island has been deeply involved in the fight for racial equality. The Ministers Alliance has also been a source of spiritual guidance and support for the community. The Alliance has organized revivals, religious services, and educational programs to strengthen the faith and resolve of its members. It has also served as a forum for Black clergy to discuss issues affecting their congregations and to provide mutual support.
Over the years, the Ministers Alliance of Rhode Island has continued to evolve, addressing new challenges and opportunities as they arise. Today, it remains a vital institution in the state, continuing its legacy of advocacy, spiritual leadership, and community service. The Alliance's commitment to justice, equality, and the betterment of the African American community in Rhode Island stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and collective action.
